We all love goal setting. Especially women! We love setting that goal or writing that To-Do list with the little boxes next to each task, just for us to have that satisfying moment of checking the box.
However many times in January, as we all set our health, fitness, and financial goals for the year, we VERY rarely actually make the plan to get there. Aren’t there a ton of famous quotes about:
“Preparation is Key”
“Success is where preparation and opportunity meet.”
“Spectacular achievement is always preceded by unspectacular preparation.”
So if we have heard this wise phrases, why do we not put more effort into the prep work?
Because it’s the HARD part. It can also be hard to admit that we don’t know what steps we need to take, or how to get rid of the obstacles in the way that keep us from meeting our goals.
Today’s blog is going to be diving deeper into how to make a plan for your goal setting in 2023! This is not necessarily a post on how to decide what your goals are, but more so figuring out the roadmap of how to get there. These steps will also help you audit your bandwidth and physical capacity to take on more “fitness” oriented goals.
Below there are going to be 5 steps that I recommend, and then after that I am going to lead you through an example of how to implement these five steps.

To walk you through an example:
Step 1: I can currently run 1 mile.
Step 2: My BIG dream is to run a Half Marathon, but a more realistic dream in the near term would be a 5K!
Step 3:
1. Do I have any pain, if so where and how often? –Yes, my left knee
2. Do I have any other health considerations limiting me from pursuing health & wellness goals? –Yes, my weak core and lack of endurance prevents me from running further than 1 mile.
Step 3.5:
Since I answered “Yes” to some health obstacles in my Step 3, this is the step where you need to take into consideration of how to remove those obstacles, or work on those obstacles alongside working towards your overarching goals! Think on this: WHO can help me with my problem in #3? Most of the time it’s a physical problem so I would say you likely need help from one of these practitioners:
Once you get a plan for #3.5, then you can move onto Step 4:
Download the Planner above and get your favorite pen out! Now how can you devote time each week or each day towards your goal? Pencil it in your calendar, set yourself up for success and you can reach your goals in no time! I truly hope this helps you put a roadmap in place, and then follow through on what you actually want from your goals in 2023!
Bonus Tip:
Please notice that above I said I wanted to run a Half Marathon, but I would choose to run a 5K first because it would be a great milestone that would help bring success, positive energy, and an attainable goal to reach before I get to half marathon mileage. Setting small goals like that leading up to your big goal is KEY.
